On August 16, 2012, an Order of Rehabilitation was entered against American Motorists Insurance Company by the Circuit Court of Cook County, Illinois pursuant to the provision of Article XIII of the Illinois Insurance Code, 215 ILCS 5/187 et seq.

On May 08, 2013, the Circuit Court of Cook County, Illinois entered an order granting the Rehabilitator’s Motion for Substantive Consolidation of the liabilities and assets of the estates of Lumbermens Mutual Casualty Co., American Manufacturers Mutual Ins. Co., and American Motorists Ins. Co. This order will allow for the equitable distribution of assets on the claims arising in the liquidation proceedings of these three companies. Thereafter, effective, December 31, 2014 American Manufacturers Mutual Casualty Company and American Motorists Insurance Company were merged into Lumbermens Mutual Casualty Company.

On May 8, 2013, the Circuit Court of Cook County, Illinois entered an order, effective May 10, 2013, placing AMICO in liquidation.

On December 16, 2014, an Agreement of Merger was entered by and between Lumbermens Mutual Casualty Company (“LMC”), American Manufacturers Mutual Insurance Company (“AMM”) and American Motorists Insurance Company (“AMICO”) with an effective date of December 31, 2014. LMC is the surviving entity, which acquired all the rights and obligations of AMM and AMICO by virtue of the laws of the State of Illinois.
