RCA is a property/casualty insurer that was incorporated in 1972, and held licenses in twenty states, including Illinois, California, New Jersey, Arizona, Texas and Wisconsin. Recently, RCA was primarily engaged in the run-off of its remaining workers’ compensation claims and liabilities, and since 2007, the underwriting of one month non-standard auto liability policies in the State of Texas.

RCA formerly wrote assumed reinsurance business from 1978-1986. In April 2004, Nor-Eastern Holding Co., Inc. a Delaware corporation, acquired the Company, and began writing workers compensation business with a focus on professional employer organizations, primarily in California, Illinois and New Jersey.

On April 27, 2011, the Circuit Court of Cook County Illinois entered an Agreed Order of Liquidation with A Finding of Insolvency against Reinsurance Company of America. The Agreed Order of Liquidation has triggered the protection of several Guaranty Funds, including Illinois, Texas, New Jersey, California and Wisconsin. Texas is the only state which has active policies. Those policies that do not otherwise expire on an earlier date, and that are covered by the Texas Property and Casualty Insurance Guaranty Fund, shall be cancelled effective 11:59 p.m. Central Standard Time on May 27, 2011. Any policy that is not covered by the Texas Property and Casualty Insurance Guaranty Fund was cancelled upon the entry of the Agreed Order of Liquidation.

On June 2, 2011, the Supervising Court entered an Order approving proof of claim filing deadlines and procedures.  The last date by which a proof of claim may be submitted as timely filed in October 29, 2012.  Click here to obtain a proof of claim form.
