An Agreed Order of Liquidation With a Finding of Insolvency was entered against Associated Physicians Insurance Company on August 16, 2001. This domestic property and casualty company began operations in 1987.

The company, which specialized in medical malpractice coverages, was licensed in seven states (IL, IA, KY, MO, OH, SD, and WI); however, it was concentrating its business writings primarily in Illinois when it entered run off in 1995.

The claim filing deadline was January 6, 2003, with a contingent claim date of January 6, 2004. Early access distributions totaling $743,889 have been made to the Illinois Insurance Guaranty Fund for administrative expenses and claim benefits.

An order approving a 100% distribution on all timely-filed priority level (e) and (g) claims allowed in the proceeding was entered on September 28, 2006.

On October 17, 2006, the supervisory court entered an order setting a new claim filing deadline of April 24, 2007, to afford claimants who did not previously file claims, or who filed claims after the original claim filing deadline, an opportunity to file their claims. See receivership order.

An order approving a 100% dividend distribution on all allowed claims filed on or before the second claim filing deadline of April 24, 2007 was entered by the Supervising Court on November 5, 2007.

An order closing the estate and terminating the liquidation proceedings was entered by the Supervising Court on December 9, 2008.
